10-Day Morocco Itinerary Without a Car: Marrakech, Essaouira, Sahara & Fes
Ten days gives you enough room to combine two strong city bases with the coast and the Sahara without changing hotels every night. This version keeps Marrakech and Fes independent, adds Essaouira as a day trip, then uses a one-way Sahara route to connect the two cities.

Days 1–2: Marrakech first, without overbooking it
Use the first full day for Marrakech itself. A ten-day trip has enough space for one useful excursion, but Marrakech should not become only the hotel you sleep in between departures.
Day 3: use Essaouira as the coast day
A shared Essaouira day trip works here because you return to the same Marrakech base and avoid moving luggage for one coastal night. It is the efficient version if your goal is a taste of Essaouira rather than a slow evening and morning there.
If the coast is one of the main reasons for your trip, stay overnight independently instead and remove another item from this itinerary.
Days 4–6: cross the country through the Sahara
This is the same route logic as the seven-day plan, but it sits more comfortably here. The three-day Marrakech to Fes Sahara tour gives the desert its own block and leaves you in the next city instead of forcing a return transfer.
Days 7–9: use Fes as the northern base
Give Fes a full independent day before adding another departure. On day eight, Chefchaouen can work as a long shared day trip if you want to keep one hotel base.
Day nine stays flexible. Use it for Fes, rest, shopping, a hammam, or another day trip only if you still have the energy and interest. The itinerary does not need to fill every hour to be complete.
What this itinerary deliberately leaves out
- Agadir, because adding another southern base weakens a ten-day route
- Casablanca unless your flight requires it
- An overnight in Chefchaouen, because this version prioritizes fewer hotel changes
- A second major day trip from Marrakech
