Pickup and drop-off

Pickup is normally between 7:00 and 7:30 AM from accessible accommodation in Fes. When accommodation cannot be reached by vehicle, the nearest practical meeting point is assigned before departure.

The exact pickup time and meeting point are communicated before departure after the pickup schedule is finalized.

Return to Fes is after the long drive from Merzouga. Exact timing varies with traffic, weather and group logistics.

Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Fes through the Middle Atlas to Merzouga

    • Leave Fes and travel through Ifrane and the Middle Atlas, with practical and scenic stops along the route.
    • Continue through the cedar-forest region and Ziz Valley toward Merzouga.
    • Arrive at the dunes for the sunset camel ride or 4x4 alternative, followed by dinner and the selected Standard or Luxury Sahara camp.

  2. Day 2

    Merzouga back to Fes

    • Wake for sunrise and breakfast at the Sahara camp.
    • Return toward Fes through the Ziz Valley and Middle Atlas with comfort stops on the way.
    • Arrive back in Fes after the long return drive.

Standard and Luxury change the Sahara camp category. The route and vehicle remain shared.

Standard — €120 per person

€40 deposit at booking. Standard Sahara camp at or near the edge of the dunes with shared toilets and showers.

Luxury — €170 per person

€60 deposit at booking. Luxury Sahara camp deeper within the dunes with a private en-suite bathroom, shower and air conditioning.

Transport, group format and luggage

Shared departures use an air-conditioned vehicle appropriate to the group size. The route includes long driving sections.

This is a shared/group tour. Unrelated travelers may join the same departure and vehicle.

One carry-on-sized bag plus one small backpack or personal item is recommended. Travelers bringing more luggage should declare it before departure so vehicle space can be checked.

Solo travelers may receive a private tent when availability allows. When sharing is required, they are paired with another traveler of the same gender.

Important before booking

  • Departures operate daily except December 25 through January 4. Regular departures resume January 5.
  • Travelers who do not want to ride a camel may use a 4x4 transfer to the desert camp.
  • Vegetarian and vegan meals can be arranged. Allergies and dietary requirements should be declared during booking and repeated to the driver on departure day.
  • There is no child discount. Each traveler occupies a seat and is charged the applicable per-person price.
  • The route includes substantial driving and uneven terrain. Travelers with significant mobility requirements should check suitability before booking.
